你到低想我是什麼? 一個表演的猴子嗎?

I’ve been playing around with translating some of my favorite English sayings into Mandarin for my own edification. The above sentence reads:

What do you think I am? A performing monkey?

Actually, that’s not so much an English saying as it is a Catherine saying. I think I started using it in college as a generalized exclamation of existentialist anxiety to a supposititious omnipotent absolute being as I struggled to come to terms with life’s inherent absurdity. Nowadays I don’t use it as often, because I no longer bother to think about things like the meaning of life, but I still think it’s worth translating.
