The rainy weather has returned with a vengeance. When I was a little girl, listening to raindrops pelt the roof made me feel cozy inside, but now it just makes me anxious as I think about all the umbrellas I have misplaced over the years. Hundreds of NT dollars, I tell you. Fortunately, we are well prepared for the upcoming typhoon — I ordered four boxes of kitty litter today! George will not do without.

Before the weather turned, I went to Huashan 1914 to check out VVG’s pop-up store, At Home. It was gorgeous—filled with giant bouquets of fresh flowers, vintage furniture and other things I can’t afford (because I’ve spent all my money on kitty litter). I did treat myself to a delicious mixed berry pie and a ginger ale with pineapple and mint.

I’ll post more photos of VVG At Home tomorrow.

Ron and my Dad celebrated their birthday last week. They were both born on the same date — and apparently not as many years apart as I had originally thought because my father recently revealed to me that he is 39. Wow. I guess that means I am eight years old! Oh good, I hated being an adult anyway. My parents offered to pay for Ron’s birthday dinner, which I thought was a great idea because I also benefited. We went to the Oyster Bar in Bellavita. Their portions are tiny but everything is so beautifully presented. Look at that lovely smoked salmon plate. My own birthday is coming up in a week and I know exactly what I want: a bucket of chocolate and a fried chicken souffle.

I really hope the sunny weather comes back soon but if it doesn’t I know exactly what I’m going to do — watch Olympic gymnastics replays while eating peanut butter directly out of the jar.  Mmm… floor routines…
