If you have been reading my blog for a while (or at least since February), you might remember my post about “Ordinary Beauty (普通美),” a collection of objects collected from hardware and variety stores in different Taiwan cities. Everything is at Huashan 1914 (華山1914) until August 15 (right next to the building housing VVG At Home). It was curated by the owners of graphic design studio Itis Edition (版語) and originally exhibited at Good Cho’s (好, 丘). I enjoyed its back-to-the-basics approach to looking at product design. Seeing all of these things out of context and trying to guess what some of the more obscure-looking ones are used for is entertaining, especially since some of them are kind of weird. Check out the photo of the metal geta sandals! For more information about the exhibit, check out their Facebook page.
